God the Father cannot be seen

God the Father cannot be seen by mortals.

1John 4:12
No man hath seen God at any time…

ANSWER: What no mortal has ever seen is the face of God the Father.
Many people have seen in dreams parts of the Father’s person, but not His face.

1John 4:12 must be understood in the light of this verse:
Exodus 33:20 And he said, Thou canst not see MY FACE : for there shall no man SEE ME , and live.

Revelation 6:16 And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us FROM THE FACE of Him that sitteth on the throne , and from the wrath of the Lamb:

Daniel could see the hair of the Father
Daniel 7:9. I BEHELD till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow , and THE HAIR OF HIS HEAD LIKE THE PURE WOOL : his throne was like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning fire.

Daniel saw in his visions God the Father, but not His face
Daniel 7:13. I SAW in the night visions, and, behold, one like the Son of man came with the clouds of heaven, and CAME TO THE ANCIENT OF DAYS , and they brought him near before him.

Stephen saw Jesus and God the Father
Acts 7
55 But he, being full of the Holy Ghost, looked up stedfastly into heaven, and saw the glory of God, and Jesus standing on the right hand of God,
56 And said, Behold, I see the heavens opened, and the Son of man standing on the right hand of God.
The face of Jesus can be looked upon
Daniel 10:5,6 Then I lifted up mine eyes, and looked, and behold a certain man clothed in linen, whose loins were girded with fine gold of Uphaz: note His body also was like the beryl, and HIS FACE as the appearance of lightning, and HIS EYES as lamps of fire, and his arms and his feet like in colour to polished brass, and the voice of his words like the voice of a multitude.
Revelation 1:13-17 And in the midst of the seven candlesticks one like unto the Son of man, clothed with a garment down to the foot, and girt about the paps with a golden girdle.
And his feet like unto fine brass, as if they burned in a furnace; and his voice as the sound of many waters.
And he had in his right hand seven stars: and out of HIS MOUTH went a sharp twoedged sword: and HIS COUNTENANCE was as the sun shineth in his strength. And when I saw him, I fell at his feet as dead.

In eternity the saved will be able to look upon the face of God the Father
Revelation 22: 3 – 4 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:
And they SHALL SEE HIS FACE; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

Daniel speaking of God, calls him the Ancient of days. Daniel 7:9. “And the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and the hair of his head like the pure wool.” THIS PERSONAGE IS SAID TO HAVE A HEAD, AND HAIR ; this certainly could not be said of him if he was immaterial and had no form. But Paul’s testimony in Hebrews 1:3, ought to settle every candid mind in regard to the personality of God. Speaking of Christ, he says, “Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his (the Father’s) person.” MPC 31.2

Showing that this power would, like man, lust after the riches and honors of the world, and exercise great authority. “I beheld till the thrones were cast down, and the Ancient of days did sit, whose garment was white as snow, and THE HAIR OF HIS HEAD LIKE THE PURE WOOL; his throne like the fiery flame, and his wheels as burning.” 9th verse. This verse is so obvious, that it needs no comment. IT IS A DESCRIPTION OF GOD THE FATHER. HST April 15, 1841, p. 9.8

“Counsels for the church”
Christ took with Him to the heavenly courts His glorified humanity. To those who receive Him, He gives power to become the sons of God, that at last God may receive as His, to dwell with Him throughout eternity. If, during this life, they are loyal to God, THEY WILL AT LAST “SEE HIS FACE; and His name shall be in their foreheads.” Revelation 22:4. AND WHAT IS THE HAPPINESS OF HEAVEN BUT TO SEE GOD? What greater joy could come to the sinner saved by the grace of Christ than to look upon the face of God and know Him as Father? CCh 76.3

“Early Writings”
Moses was greater than any who had lived before him. He had been highly honored of God, being privileged TO TALK WITH THE LORD (with Jesus n. tr. ) FACE TO FACE, as a man speaks with a friend. He was permitted to see the bright light and excellent glory that enshrouded the Father. EW 162.3

“Gospel Workers 1892”
Well would it be for us if we could always remember Calvary, where Jesus bore the terrible burden of the sins of the world. In his expiring agony hear him exclaim, “My God, my God, why hast thou forsaken me!” [Matthew 27:46.] and remember that he endured the hiding of HIS FATHER’S FACE, that it might not be forever hidden from fallen man. He endured shame, cruel scourging, insult, and mockery, that we might be reconciled to God and rescued from endless death. GW92 419.2

“S. D. A. Bible commentary vol 7″
The Lord gives to every angel his work for this fallen world. Divine help is provided for men and women. They have the opportunity of cooperating with the heavenly intelligences, of being laborers together with God. There is placed before them the possibility of gaining a fitness for the presence of God, OF BEING ENABLED TO SEE HIS FACE. 7BC 923.4

” The adventist home”
The thought of God will run like a thread of gold through all our homely cares and occupations. For us THE GLORY OF HIS FACE will again rest upon the face of nature. We shall ever be learning new lessons of heavenly truth and growing into the image of His purity. 11 AH 144.2

“Christ’s object lessons”
The priests and elders had had unmistakable evidence of Christ’s power. In His cleansing of the temple they had seen Heaven’s authority FLASHING FROM HIS FACE. They could not resist the power by which He spoke. COL 273.3

“Counsels for the church”
enchanting music in melodious strains rising in honor of God and the Lamb; and ceaseless streams of light flowing upon the saints FROM THE FACE OF HIM who sitteth upon the throne, and from the Lamb; Cch 186.2

“Counsels to teachers, parents and students”
As soon as the holy pair transgressed the law of the Most High, THE BRIGHTNESS FROM THE FACE OF GOD departed from the face of nature. CT 186.1

“Selected messages book 1”
Christ taught the gospel plan to Moses, and the glory of the gospel, through Christ, illuminated the countenance of Moses so that the people could not look upon it. 1SM 231.3
Moses himself was unconscious of the beaming glory reflected upon his face, and knew not why the children of Israel fled from him when he approached them. He called them to him, but they dared not look upon that glorified face. When Moses learned that the people could not LOOK UPON HIS FACE, BECAUSE OF ITS GLORY, he covered it with a veil. 1SM 232.1
THE GLORY UPON THE FACE OF MOSES was exceedingly painful to the children of Israel because of their transgression of God’s holy law.

“Desire of ages”
But as he came forth from the holy place, HIS FACE WAS SHINING with the glory of God, “and they perceived that he had seen a vision in the temple.” DA 99.3

“Counsels on health”
Those who are engaged in this work are to reflect THE SUNLIGHT OF CHRIST’S FACE. They are to be as salt that has not lost its savor. CH 211.4
